Brings back memories of my dad entering my mom’s old 70s Coupe de Ville in the demo at the county fair when I was little. That thing was a tank. It weighed as much as a full size pickup and the Caddy 500 big block had more torque than God. My dad used both to his advantage.
Then his cousins punched a hole in the radiator between heats and ganged up on him and pinned him to the Jersey barrier until the 500 overheated and seized. It taught a young me how far family gets you when there’s money involved.

Lol good story. Used to work at a muffler shop and we would draw straws to see who drove. Never got to drive but we came in second and third and got into the main event quite a few times .
They actually banned the fwd El Dorados at my local fair.

Doesn't surprise me. All the weight over the drive axle in a situation where traction is so limited would be a big advantage.
